The other week I came across yet another brilliant episode of the BBC series Imagine. Alan Yentob, the series creator and BBC executive follows industrial designer and creative director Marc Newson. I’ve always been a fan Newson, but never really engaged much in his work. I was especially blown away with his gallery furniture pieces for his show at the Gagosian’s New York gallery. Watching the Extruded Chair being cut from single pieces of flawless Carrera marble was mindblowing.

Not just a loss of one of the greatest comedic minds of our time, Carlin was the last of an era of comedians that’s imperativeness is needed now more so than ever. Carlin’s performances were great recitations of his thoughts on cultural and observations of everyday life. He spoke of the absurdity and true stupidity of culture, politics and society, always reminded us of how far we have regressed as a species.
Here’s a link his obit in the New York Times

Nothing news breaking about this post. Seen these photos myself all over the place. But Im really impressed with Hedi Slimane’s photography, aside from his main talent as a men’s wear designer, so Im putting up these photos of Kate Moss he shot. You can see more photos shot by Slimane over at his “diary“

Grabbed these from a post a month or so ago off the Creative Review blog on the relationship between Spiritualized (J. Spacemen) and Mark Farrow, their Art Director since their release of Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space.

After my last post i decided through drop the illustrator file right into After Effects and see if a more “3D environment” would fit the look. So in the course of 3 minutes I outputted this little video. Nothing too impressive technically, of course. More of an idea that the aesthetic of the illustration works pretty naturally in the context of a 3D space.

I was looking at some back issues of Playboy’s from the 60s and 70s and found myself really attracted to the illustration style I came across in a few issues, surprisingly enough. I thought about trying to see what the elements were in these comical illustrations and what lent to the aesthetic. The style wasnt specific to Playboy in anyway, its just that its the first time they actually caught my interest.
